The West Toronto Railpath is a little-known treasure! With flat, smooth pathways -- and few other people who know of its existence -- it is perfect location for a season premiere of inline skating.

Our group gathered at Dundas West subway station, walked 5 minutes to the Wallace entrance of the West Toronto Railpath, and got our skates on there. Once everyone was suited up with skates and helmets, we got moving!

After an informal lesson for some, and an invitation to skate at a pace that was comfortable for all, the group of 10 soon split into smaller groups of 2 to 4. For many, it was the first skate of the season; some noted that it was the first time that they had been on their inline skates in a few years. We had good conversations as we skated.

The full length of the multi-use pathway is currently 2.1 kilometres, and so we skated back and forth a few times. A few people noted that one direction was much easier than the other -- one direction was a slow and gradual incline!

In total, most people skated just over 12 kilometres.

This was a fun start to the inline skating season. Several shared that it was good exercise, and we were blessed with a beautiful, sunny, spring evening. Thanks to all for a fun event!

And -- the summary of finances for the day -- total donations collected: $2.00.

Look for more inline skating events to come on other Thursday evenings this season!
