Gathering together at Dufferin Grove Park was a great way to end off the work week.

After meeting at the Dufferin subway station, we walked the short distance over to the park. Some of our group members who had driven and parked at Dufferin Mall (across the street) met us at the park, and with our whole group together, we all lined up for dinner. The vegetarian option for the evening was a shepherd's pie with vegan gravy; the meat option was risotto with pork sausage and caramelized onions. Both were served with salad and veggies.

The inside space for reserved for eating was quite packed that evening with families and children, so our group took some space along an empty bench and ate there. We chatted and shared over the meal.

Most agreed that the price for the full meal was quite reasonable ($7) each. Several commented that the range of activities that Dufferin Grove Park has to offer was a pleasant surprise; some shared that they plan to return to the farmer's market, which is offered year-round on Thursdays.

After eating, we laced up our skates and headed outside to the rink. Our group had quite a range of experiences with ice skating. Some had never before skated in their lives; others were former figure skaters! A few offered informal lessons to the ones who were newer to skating, and guided them around the rink.

We skated for about an hour and a half, with occasional breaks for conversation on the ice -- and some took breaks to go back inside for home-made cookies! In all, we had an enjoyable evening.

The summary of finances for this evening -- total donations collected: $6.51.

And, as a final note, a warm welcome to Noura for whom this was her first event. Welcome to the Toronto Outdoor Club!

Thanks to all for a fun night!
