With a Canadian winter in full effect we departed the now traditional location of downs view ttc station on route with visions of skis and poles in our heads. We said on ward slowly, safely we must get their! Some chose the main route of the 400, some chose other, but we all managed to get there in 2 and half hours! The drivers got out with a giant sigh and the clanking of poles and skis could be heard. We lined up, like cattle for each to pay their way. Within 30 minutes of arrival all had dashed away! They could hear on the wind of the trail, swoosh, swoosh, thump thump, swish swish as all disappeared into the forest!
Some returned for lunch for a bowl of hearty soup, chicken jambalaya or the yummy cream of potato. The mugs full of tea or hot chocolate! When the cold started creeping in as the sun begun its decent, settled with the drivers! Money for you and you! And a strong, thank you!!!
For the drivers gathered their friends and again the clank, clank of skis, each slowly packed up and made for the sleighs. On Jim, On Greg, On Robert and Karen! Drive away Drive away drive away all. Our tires hit the pavement with such squeal! Each driver smiled and cried with zeal! No snow on the roads! This was a good time by all and we will be home in a short while!
