It was a perfect sunny day for 6 adventurous TOC members to hit the trails on horseback at Whinny Acres located at the tip of the scenic Beaver Valley.
The group left the city around 10am on Saturday morning arriving at Whinny Acres in good time thanks to Alison`s trusty GPS. Once we settled in our cozy bunkies, the group was happy to hear that our scheduled trail ride was going to be exclusive. Yes! So we anxiously made our way to the corral to meet and mount our horses one by one and off we went - zigzagging up hills, riding up on hill tops overlooking a valley draped in fall colors. After the ride, we had leisure time where some of us chose to take a nap, sunbathe or take a drive in search of gourmet crackers for our cheese and wine sampling. For dinner, the riders prepared a meal in a fully equipped cookhouse followed by bubbly with chocolate truffle cake to celebrate Alison`s Birthday. The evening ended beautifully with a visit in the hot tub while gazing at a gazillion stars!
On Sunday, we woke up to another warm and sunny day ready to hike the Ravenna to Duncan section of the `mighty Bruce` with breathtaking views across the Beaver Valley and up to Georgian Bay. We hiked through colourful fields occupied by curious cows and were visited by strange looking birds soaring above, climbed up and down numerous fences and trooped on to tackle vertically challenging rocky sections while laughing and taking pictures the whole way!
At an average of 5kph and 18.5km later, I am happy to announce that we all made it back safely to our vehicles with a few aching muscles and great big cheers!
