Our big adventure this weekend focus around river crossings. Our big challenge was surviving the cold October night, where it got down to 3C.

Well 12 members got lost (as planned) and un-lost on Sunday.

It took about 3 hours to reach the river for our first river crossing. The trail there was in pretty good shape with various marsh wetland crossings and the occasional bushwhacking to find the trail.

Our first river crossing had 2 choices. Across a fallen tree or walk through a swift of about 2 feet deep. It took about 45 minutes to get everyone mind around the task and across the river. That was refreshing! Let's have lunch at the top of the hill at Long Falls.

After lunch it was back across the river in a different spot. This time it took only 20 minutes to strip down and get everyone safety across and dressed up again. We made real progress! From there we headed south to Lone Lake where we all go lost per plan.

Lone Lake is a beautiful lake. The skies were clearing and the stars where out. It was going to be a cold night by the fire.

Morning came quickly. Everyone had a story about how they survived the cold night. It was a cool morning but the blue skies and sun really helped lift our spirits while we all sat down for a hot oatmeal breakfast at my campsite. Some of us caught up on some missing sleep, as decribed by the snoring going on the sun blessed rocks, by the lake.

Our hike out took about 2 hours. No river crossings today! Some members were happy about this and others we're disappointed. You'll have to wait for next years survival series for more of this!

See you all soon.

Gary
