Everyone arrived on time and after the usual meet and greet and signing in with the folks at Harborfront Kayak, we went down to the dock to adjust and load up our boats.

It was Dan’s first time paddling at Harborfront and after consulting with a few instructors, she was given the A okay to paddle. Geraldine and I took a double(tandem kayak, as it was my first time paddling this year)....we manage to steer the boat okay...except for when I hit her with the blade a few times....not to mention splashing her with water!

The 8 of us TOC members joined in with about 20 others and paddled across the channel taking a few breaks...and waves.....along the way.

Two other TOC members, Ken and Christine had joined our paddle group separately and took up the challenge of paddling another double boat.

We continued to paddle and take picture across the channel and spent about an hour paddling through the inlets of Centre and Ward Islands. Our guide took us through a challenging twisted and swampy part of the inlet. The pace slowed down as everyone navigated their way through the fallen trees.

I think I manage to try and hit Dave’s Kayak a few times....come to think of it, I was probably trying to hit Dave in the water! I know he is a good swimmer....

Our return to land across the channel got a little dark and we were treated to a dramatic cloudy sunset. We took some cool pictures.

The weather was perfect. No mishaps(including the “couples” in the double boats).

We unloaded the boats, a little tired I suspect....and then treated ourselves to snacks, burgers and drinks at Harborfront.

The Toronto Luminato Festival was also happening at this time, so lots of lights and other folks hanging around the area.

I think we will do this again!
