Everyone made it in good time to the camp. This is the first time there wasn't a snow storm on our trip up. The ski conditions weren't fabulous but we more than made up for that on the tubing hill and with several challenging hikes. The first hike was around several islands on the lake (we were walking on water, yes it was frozen), then up the back side of the mountain and back for lunch. In the afternoon we trekked across the road to the bog, beaver dams and great blue heron rookery. After dinner we stargazed and learned some constellations/stars/etc. and how to find them in the ski at different times of the year. was The food was awesome, with a complete turkey dinner on Saturday night. On Sunday there were some sweaty skirmishes on the broomball court. Something everyone agreed upon was how frightening it was being in the middle of a frozen lake and not just hearing a loud crack, but feeling the lake shift beneath you or having a huge crack appear between your legs suddenly. It was an incredible weekend!
