I can't believe I forgot my camera!

I had my fingers crossed all day as the weather was overcast and at sometimes downright threatening. But about 6 or 7pm the clouds cleared and blue sky peaked out for a lovely summer evening. We met at the Sunnyside Pavilion which is a beautiful architectural artefact from Toronto's past. Paul reminisced about the Sunnyside-that-was; a summer amusement part that predated the exhibition where everyone took the streetcars on hot summer days in the 40's and 50's. Most of the buildings are gone now, except the original pavilion, and the Palais Royale where my grandparents used to dance in the 30's.

We walked west along the boardwalk, over the Humber river, past the Palace Pier condos, named after another old landmark that was gone before my time, but pictures and a monument remain. The path west is all new thanks to the brand new condos that have replaced the old motel strip. You could continue this path all the way to Hamiltion and beyond, but we just went a few hundred feet before we turned around to go back.

The sunset was spectacular, the breeze off the water cut through the humidity and the walk and conversation were pleasant. We ended the evening with ice cream and learned some very interesting facts about some of our members: Paul & Desiree have travelled extensively and shared some fascinating stories..and Dima? Well, I've never met a professional ping pong player before! Maybe we can convince him to hold some lessons and a tournament when the weather turns ugly and we don't want to go outdooors??

Thanks to everyone for coming out and enjoying the longest day of the year.
