Amazingly - AMAZINGLY - the rain held off for us the entire time we worked on building the extension of an existing boardwalk.

Also phenomenal was the group of TOCers who got up at crazy o'clock in the morning to volunteer with the wonderful folks of the Credit Valley Conservation Authority. Everyone worked really hard, but seemed to really enjoy the project.

Since the extension of the boardwalk was also a dock going over a vernal pond, several of TOCers (Lisa, Margaret, Mark, Brooke, and Dave) donned chest-waders and spent several hours moving through the muck, only getting wet by sweating inside the rubber suits. But it couldn't have been that bad - Margaret stayed in the chest waders until the very end! :) Beki, Flora, Jamie, Raj, and Irene had a bit of waiting around to do while the initial structures were set up over the water, but eventually everyone got to hammer in lots of nails and our progress was really fast!

Through everyone's hard work and cooperation, the new section was done after 5 hours. While everyone's efforts truly were appreciated, I want to give a special hat-tip to Raj and Irene, who chose to volunteer on this day as their first TOC event! Welcome, and thank you!!!

As always, the participating TOC members made me so proud! The CVCA organizers were very appreciative of our help. From our perspective, it's wonderful to work with the CVCA, who will plan the project, provide the supplies, feed us lunch ... They treat us very well! :)

This is likely the last volunteering event with the CVCA for the year, but hopefully there will be more next year!
