August is one of the most popular months for backpacking in Ontario because the bugs are almost gone and the weather is still warm. As expected the conditions were great during our trip. In addition to backpacking we were able to enjoy swimming in warm water and an optional night hike by moonlight. Four of us were first time backpackers: Ian, Anna, Andrew and Rebecca.
It was great to see everyone contribute uniquely to the backcountry adventure. Our chef Jessie cooked 3 meals that kept everyone energized on the trail. Maryam set a quick pace that motivated everyone to push harder. Ian presented an exciting game, which many have played repeatedly (I am still trying to figure out the rules). Anna kept dangerous animals away from our camp at night with her loud laughter. César brought a huge bear sack and helped keep food safe at night. Andrew managed the fire over which we boiled water for tea and cooked marshmallows. Rebecca demonstrated true backpacking spirit by keeping her pack on during the rest stops on the 2nd day.
