Sun, Sep 14 2025 - Main St +Boulders +Beach +Bluffs 15 km😍 (View Original Event Details)

the route along the beach takes us from Rosetta McClain Gardens west to R.C. Harris water treatment plant.
On the hike today, after we had painstakingly finished the boulder section, at about 9.5 km we encountered construction on the beach.
a very large dump truck with huge boulders, and a large excavator were working and the area was blocked by caution tape.
I figured we would have to go back and retrace our route over the boulders, not something anyone wanted to do.
as we started back, I came across a guy on the beach and advised him of the construction blockage.
he said we could follow a very steep path up the bluffs to Warden Ave. he had just come down from there and showed us the path.
we did that with the assistance of ropes that had been tied to trees.
everyone made it up without incidence.
I think that was the steepest climb I have done on a hike (aside from the ascent from the narrows at McCrae lake).
and that is something if you are familiar with my love of hills!
all in all a great hike with a surprise challenge!
