Write Up:

In spite of the ever-so-familiar prediction of dreariness (60% chance of rain, etc.), it turned out to be a great evening for a stroll. The skies were mostly cloudy though the sun did make its eventual appearance, just to show us that it was still up there even though it was after 8 PM. But that's why it's called the "solstice," I suppose, from the Latin "sol" (sun) + "stice" (it's nice).

So .... stroll we did, down to Harbourfront where we made a detour through Nova Scotia before hitting the beach; then along by the Music Garden and onwards to Sunnyside where we lost Peter in a plate of chicken strips and a beer. At Parkside, we crossed Lakeshore Drive (some of us waiting for the light--wimps!!) then walked up through High Park alongside Grenadier Pond. The pace noticeably quickened as we hit the northwest corner of the park and got within beer-sniffing distance of Bloor West Village. After looking around for a place that could accomodate us in style, we ended up on the front patio of Dr. Generosity's where we spent a cheerful hour or so, drinking and eating on what turned out to be a very mild and pleasant evening.

Thanks to all for coming out on this hike and for being such good company.
