Rain smrain... The weather report looked grim for the morning of the hike. A 60% chance of thunder showers loomed over the hike, hourly checks of the forecast until well after midnight the night before confirmed it. Would I have to cancel an event due to weather of all things? While I, and most intrepid TOCers could deal with a little rain, it was the lighting that sometimes accompanies the storm that is worrisome. I put out the word that the hike might be postponed due to lightning

I awoke early of the morning of the hike and found the rain pouring down, a good sign as it meant the storm had already hit and would soon run out of steam. I checked the weather report again, found it had been downgraded to light thunder showers possible.

I arrived at the carpool to find a group of TOCers who were determined not to let a little rain stop a good hike. We arrived at Long Sault and found the forest enshrouded by fog. The fog soon lifted and the sun came out making the second part of the hike perfect.

We kept a good pace and seldom got misdirected. Everyone seemed to enjoy the hike, and that's pretty much all a volunteer needs to keep the events a-coming...
