What a fabulous day for a hike. Because of certain gentlemen (ahem...) that had booked early massages at the spa we hiked at a surprisingly brisk pace to our lunch spot which looked out over Nottawasaga Bay and the rich valley between - just an incredible view. It rained while we ate, but we were covered by the trees above which made for a very cool experience. We hiked on and came to some of the rock splits, cracks and caves we were to explore. Everyond in the group was a real trooper and made it through. The obstacles we encountered were sometimes both impressive and often slippery. We continued on and encountered all sorts of diverse terrain and even discovered a great gorge that ran on for some ways - but being pressed for time we decided to save exploring it for our next visit. The only wildlife sightings were of birds (Turkey Vultures, Gold Finches, a Blue Jay) and one very surpised caterpillar that Erik placed on someone's shoulder hoping to get a reaction... but didn't...) We headed back to the cars and made our way to the spa. Hot tubs, cool plunge pools, steam room, sauna, and one of Erik's favourites - the outdoor firepits - were all enjoyed thoroughly (particularly by some who didn't want to leave). Aside from some dragon flies that were also lured into one of the hot tubs - everyone had a fabulous time. Upon getting cleaned up and dressed to face the world, the group headed to a Kelsey's in Collingwood for a bite, a beverage and a hardy chat since we'd been very respectful of the tranquility at the spa (in fact this is the first time our group didn't have to be "sushed" by the staff - yay!). A long day ended with everyone regrouping in their carpools and heading back to the city for what was guaranteed to be a good night's sleep.
