The weatherman called for rain all weekend, but we've had pretty good luck with the weather, so I sent out a warning email the day before, informing everyone that although it was raining, Rocky had decided that he was ok with the weather and he was continuing the hike, rain or shine. I really expected some dropouts due to weather, but we've got some hard core hikers, and minus a few people who insisted it was due to work commitments, we had a great turnout!

Although the rain wasn't too heavy or even that cold, we had enough other problems on this hike. It really tested our mettle - from fog on the road that obscured the signs (I'll take that for the reason we lost 2 carloads of hikers on the way there - they made it just about 40 minutes late), to Cadence getting turned around and losing his way, and so Elana and Hassan had to drop back to rescue him (Rocky missed having a partner-in-crime) and the mud! If someone didn't slip and land on their rump, they were plain old lucky with good shoes! The last bit was uphill and everyone struggled to navigate some areas that were just pure muck. My poles got stuck and since I was in the rear, I spent some time trying to fix them but to no avail. I was still pulling leaves and mud off my butt even when we made it to the Frog & Firkin!

Seriously, and all mud aside, this was a great hike and will just be gorgeous when it dries up. Short, with options to make it longer, and it will afford some fantastic views on a clear day. We'll definately add this one to the calendar on a later date
