Learn about local history of Kitchener- Waterloo region, Mennonite Pennsylvania Germans, enjoy the most authentic German Christmas Market in Ontario (Christkindl Market), try German food and buy couple of souvenirs from some of market's many vendors.


This trips combines visit of two historic sites in Kitchener and German Christmas market (indoor and outdoor).

GERMAN CHRISTMAS MARKET Experience an award winning Top 100 Festivals & Events in Ontario! Kitchener City Hall has been home to Canada's original Christkindl Market since 1996. Every Christmas, since medieval times, towns and cities across Germany come alive with the sights, sounds and smells of Christmas.
WOODSIDE HISTORIC SITE Explore Canada’s history at Woodside National Historic Site in Kitchener, Ontario, the boyhood home of William Lyon Mackenzie King, Canada's tenth, and longest-serving Prime Minister. This lovingly preserved Victorian home, filled with King family heirlooms and period reproductions, and set on 11.5 acres of mature forest, is a portal to the Victorian era in Canada.
SCHNEIDER HOUSE HISTORIC SITE A local landmark and Kitchener's oldest dwelling, the 1816 homestead was restored and furnished, then opened as a living history museum in 1981. The heart of the complex is a fine Georgian-frame farmhouse that was built by and was home to the area's earliest non- Aboriginal settlers, Joseph and wife Barbara Schneider, Pennsylvania-German Mennonites.
PRIORITY Priority will go to DRIVERS WILLING TO TAKE PASSENGERS. Additional spots will be added depending on space in the carpool. Big thank you to drivers!!
