Itinerary:
Let's climb some walls!

Here's the plan:
- Meet at Downsview Subway Station at the passenger pickup area.
- Make our way to True North Climbing Gym in Downsview Park.
- Climb for 2 - 3 hours (in other words, until everyone gets tired).
- Return to Downsview Station.
- Catch our breath, and enjoy the rest of the day

The reason why I like True North is because they cater to beginners, experts, and everyone in between. They offer beginner lessons throughout the day and have a number of easier climbing routes, so if you have never climbed before, this would be a good opportunity to try it out. There are also numerous difficult routes that will challenge advanced climbers. In short, there's something for everyone. It doesn't hurt that they also have some of the highest indoor walls in the city (30 feet!)

If you have climbed before at another gym, you will still have to pass a belay test to climb. This test is offered free of charge.
If you fail the belay test or you have never climbed before, you must take a lesson and pass the belay test. This lesson is NOT free (see cost breakdown below).
Anyone who hasn't climbed at True North before will also have to fill out and sign a waiver. This can be done online beforehand at their website to save time (Click here for the waiver page on their website).
In order to climb you will need a climbing harness and shoes, which you can rent from the gym (see cost breakdown below). I recommend bringing flip flops with you so you aren't walking around in your climbing shoes all afternoon.

Cost breakdown (paid directly to the gym):
Day pass: $20
Equipment rental: $11 ($5.50 each for harness & shoes)
Intro Lesson Package: $35 (includes lesson, day pass, and equipment rental)
Intro Lesson Package/Membership: $50 (includes, lesson, day pass, equipment rental, one month membership)

There are also punch cards and memberships available. To learn more, visit True North's Web site: www.truenorthclimbing.com

I will email everyone registered for this event beforehand to determine how many spots to reserve for the intro lesson. If you have any questions before or after signing up, feel free to contact me.

PLEASE NOTE: There is a scheduled subway closure between Keele and St. George Stations on the Bloor-Danforth Subway with replacements buses running. Please give yourself extra time if you are traveling along that section of the subway to this event.
