Itinerary: |
NIGHT HIKE: High Park to
Union
So this is one of my favourite of
Fletcher's
urban hikes. We'll meet in front of
the McDonalds
at
Runnymede +
Bloor + follow this route:
- Start at Runnymede Subway
Station, outside the
McDonalds, which is on the north-
east corner of
Runnymede and Bloor.
- South along Kennedy Ave.
- East to High Park via The
Palisades and
Valleymede Rd.
- South through high park to the
waterfront
trail.
- East along the waterfront trail
to the
downtown core.
- Travel east to Union Station
Total Distance
Covered 10 KM. Dogs are
welcome. Following
the hike there will be an optional
trip to a
nearby pub for those who want hot
chocolate or a beer.
ICERS: If you want to come on
a winter hike
with me, you must bring a pair of
icers in your
pack. You won't have to use them
very often, but
when it is icy on the trail, you'll
need them. The
icer is held to your boot with a set
of Velcro
straps, and keeps you from slipping
and sliding on
the ice. You can purchase decent
icers at MEC or
Canadian Tire. If we are hiking at
night I will
also expect you to have a headlamp
or flashlight.
DIFFICULTY: I'm not a
speed hiker
and will
be leading this at about 4.5-5.0
km/hr. Please
don't
sign up if you want to go faster.
PRIORITY: Since so many newer
members are
saying
they can't get on events I will give
them priority
so they have a chance to become
involved in the
club. I'm keeping the group small
for now, but may
add
more if other volunteers sign up.
NO SHOWS: Please remove
yourself from the
event
before the cutoff to avoid a No
Show.
