Itinerary:

The terrain is hilly and variable. Length is approximately 18-20 km (2 km extra for passengers), pace is 4.5-5 km/h. The exact distance and pace will be determined by trail conditions, there are lots of opportunities to vary the distance with side trails (maps 18-19.)

After the hike we'll go to the Hockley Valley Resort Restaurant 85 for dinner.

This hike is suitable for advanced and strong intermediate hikers. It is not suitable for beginners.Hikers coming on this event are expected to have minimally D4 level hiking experience and be able to maintain a continuous pace of 4.5-5 km/h on hilly terrain. If it isn't obvious from your TOC record that you can do this hike, please, when registering, include some comments in the notes to convince me that you can keep up.

We will meet at the Hockley Road Parking Lot. We will shuttle to km 10.0 on the 1st Line EHS north of the 25 Sideroad, where the Trail leaves the road. We will hike east on 25th Sideroad to the Walter Trovell Side Trail, and hike through Mono Cliffs Provincial Park and Hockley Valley Provincial Nature Reserve. When we reach the end of the hike, passengers will continue to the Hockley Valley Resort on 3rd Line EHS.

It may be approaching sunset when we finish, therefore a light, preferably a head lamp, is mandatory.

Note: If you come on a winter hike, you should always have a pair of icers in your pack. You won't have to use them very often, but when it is icy on the trail, you'll need them. The icer is held to your boot with a set of Velcro straps, and keeps you from slipping and sliding. You can purchase good quality icers at MEC or Lee Valley Tools

Members willing to drive will get priority on the wait list.
