EVENT DETAILS

So, on August 10th, I sprained my left ankle. I've spent the last month letting it heal and am ready to start hiking again.
However, I can't rush back into it, so I'm going to lead a few short/slow 'rehab' hikes as I begin to feel better.

So, today's 5.5 KM is a brand new route both starting and finishing at Pioneer Village Station, exploring the Black Creek Neighbourhood.

This hike will be primarily on paved park paths, with a few sidewalks and a parking lot (oooh exciting) mixed in.

In term of hills, there will be one short, but steep hill of about 25 meters.

Sadly, there won't be able open washrooms on this hike.
However, there is a washroom at the Regional Bus Terminal found at the beginning / end of this hike.

We'll aim for a slower pace of 3.5 to 4 KM/h

PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS A SUBWAY CLOSURE ON LINE 1 BETWEEN FINCH AND ST CLAIR THIS WEEKEND.

  • How to Get There:
    Event Directions:

Take Line 1, Yonge-University all the way north to Pioneer Village Station. This station is located 4 stations north of Sheppard West and 2 Stations south of Vaughan Metropolitan Centre.

We'll meet outside Steeles Exit to the Station, which is beside the regional bus terminal (NOT THE TTC ONE). For those of you who don't know the station, exit the station via the north staircase (if you don't know which is the north staircase, just follow the direction of the northbound train).
If its cold or wet, then I'll stand in the station doors.

For those of you driving, address of the entrance is 2800 Steeles Avenue West, which is located on the north side of Steeles between Jane & Keele. There is a TTC parking lot just behind the bus terminal.

(Look for me in the BLUE Toronto Outdoor Club shirt) - if its cold or wet, i'll just be in the station doors.
