Itinerary:

DISTANCE - 12km (give or take)

PACE - 4 to 4.5 km/h

DIFFICULTY - D3 (Mix of paved and gravel trails, with some inclined sections)

I recently discovered some mountain biking trails along the West Don River in North York, and thought they'd make a fun hike. We'll be starting at Sheppard-Yonge Station and ending at Finch Station.

NOTE: Some parts of the route are on narrow mountain biking trails that run along the ravine. Some portions may also be quite muddy from the recent rain and snow melt, so hiking boots are recommended.
If you're not comfortable hiking in such conditions, please DON'T sign up!

ROUTE:

  • Walk South-West from Sheppard-Yonge Station through the Lansing residential neighbourhood
  • Hike North-West roughly along the West Don River through various parks to Ross Lord Park
  • Hike East on Finch Hydro Corridor Trail to Finch Station

Required Items to Bring:
  • Good footwear (Preferably Hiking Shoes/Boots)
  • Weather appropriate clothing
  • Flashlight

    • How to Get There:
    Event Directions:Sheppard-Yonge TTC Station is located near the intersection of Yonge St and Sheppard Ave, and is 2 stops south of Finch Station (on the Yonge Subway Line) and 1 stop west of Bayview Station (on the Sheppard Subway Line).

    NOTE!!! Sheppard-Yonge station has many different exits. Please follow the signs to the HARLANDALE AVENUE exit when you reach the station.

    If you are driving, Harlandale Ave is 1 block North of Sheppard, and is West of Yonge. There is paid parking on the streets and in a Green P lot on Harlandale Ave, across from the station exit.
