Itinerary:

The Mimico Creek Trail isn't much to speak of: there are some lovely parks along the way, but the area is sparsely forested. The trail breaks off into roads at many places and it's not well- maintained. But you need to traverse it before you can proudly proclaim "I've walked on every single trail in Toronto!" And this is one of the best times of the year to do that!

The Mimico Pumpkin Parade (pics from 2012 and 2013) is being organized on November 1. Combine that with the mural s of Islington and lakeside views of downtown skyline, and we have the opportunity for a good photo hike along an otherwise so-so trail. You're also welcome if you don't have a camera but want to participate in a slowpoke hike.

We'll meet at Kipling station at 3:30 pm, and explore the murals in the former village of Islington. We'll then take the Mimico Creek Trail to reach the lakeshore. The trail isn't very well- maintained, and might be treacherous in a couple of places. But there's always a road nearby for those who prefer a smoother walk. The Mimico lakeshore is quite scenic thanks to the combination of the vast lake and well-maintained parks, with highrises in background. The hike will end near Mimico Square around 6:30 pm. The Mimico Pumpkin Parade goes on until 8:30 pm. TTC stops (buses and streetcars) and Mimico GO station are located at walking distance.
