Are you ready for a real Canadian winter outdoor club adventure? Come and discover Killarney Provincial Park in the winter.

Killarney is one of Ontario's most popular wilderness destinations. It is considered one of the crown jewels of the Ontario Park system. Situated on the north shore of Georgian Bay in the municipality of Killarney, the park straddles the La Cloche range, large rounded white quartzite hills that dominate the landscape. The white peaks and cliffs contrast with the pine and hardwood forests and the boggy lowlands that surround the parks many lakes.

We will be driving to Killarney Park on Friday morning (yes you must take Friday off work) and then snowshoeing/backpacking to our first camp. We will be snowshoeing at a moderate pace (3-4 km per hour), on lakes, trails and bushwhacking from lake to lake. The plan is to cover ~30 Km loop over the 3 days (2 camps) tailored to the local snow/ice conditions and group pace. This will be a good trip to test out your winter sled. We'll be travelling about 75% by frozen lakes. We plan to exit the park on late Sunday afternoon and drive back to Toronto.

This trip is open to experienced winter campers only that have the correct winter gear and a good fitness level. We will be hiking approx 5-15 km a day. This will be a demanding trip and the views will be unforgetable.

-20C rated winter sleeping bag or equivalent combined summer bags

Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $206.40 (calculated at total Km * $0.258, effective Monday, April 28, 2025). This is based on $0.08/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divide by 9. Your event coordinator will confirm exactly how much money is required from each person.

Notes:

This trip is open to members that have wilderness winter camping experience, the proper winter gear and a good fitness level.

If this is your first winter camping trip with me please send me an email describing your experience, gear and ftness level to be considered for this trip.
- Registration is NOT COMPLETE until you've signed up and paid by the registration cut off date. The money must be in the TOC's possession by that date. No exceptions.
- When a minimum group size appears, this is to let you know that the event will be cancelled with full refunds to those who have already paid, if the minimum number of registered participants is not met. For any events where TOC needs a minimum number of participants, there will be absolutely no refund of money if you cancel.
- We encourage all members to follow our Etiquette Guidelines at all times while participating in TOC events.

Park campsite permit and parking and PayPal/Interac banking surcharge ($1.50) only. All other costs (i.e. carpool gas,etc.) will be split among participants. Any excessive money will be returned to the members at the end of the trip.
