EVENT DETAILS

So, with the 'announcement' Line 3 is going to close forever in 2023, I've decided to try my hand at doing a hike out of McCowan Station, before it closes.

This 10.5 KM hike will start at McCowan SRT Station and go down to Kennedy Station.
Interesting spots include:

  • 'The Neighbourhood of Bendale'
  • 'The Meadoway'.
  • 'Thomson Memorial Park'.
  • This hike will be primarily be on wide paved trails or through neighborhoods. However, there is one interesting single track trail, which could be a bit muddy.

In terms of hills, there's only one climb over 25 meters.

Sadly, there aren't any washrooms available on this hike.

    We'll aim for a pace of 4-5 km/h.

NOTE: Today is the day of the Toronto Marathon, so many roads in Toronto are closed in the morning, 'here's the list'.

    Required Items to Bring:
  • Hiking boots or hiking shoes
  • Water 1-2 L and snacks
  • Weather appropriate clothing
  • Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.
  • A smile.
  • First aid kit
  • Whistle

  • How to Get There:
    Event Directions:

McCowan Station is located on the Scarborough Rapid Transit (SRT) line (Line 3), five stops East of Kennedy at the end of the line.

Please meet outside the McCowan Road exit. If it's cold or wet, then we'll just meet inside the station doors.

For those of you driving, Midland Station is located at 1275 McCowan Road, between Ellesmere & the 401.
In terms of parking, you could probably just park at the lot at the Scarbourgh Town Centre and then walk over to the station.
