Directive From The TOC Executive

Interim COVID- 19 Rules for the Toronto Outdoor Club

  • You must meet the following four conditions to participate in any TOC events.
    Within the 14 days preceding the event:
    1. You have not travelled outside of Ontario;
    2. You don’t have any COVID-19, cold, or flu symptoms;
    3. You have not knowingly been in contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case;
    4. You have taken and passed the Ontario COVID-19 self- assessment on- line questionnaire.
  • You will bring a cloth mask/face covering, which you will wear during the event meet- up, plus any time during the event when the 2m social distancing is not possible.
  • You will comply with any other rules as detailed on the TOC Rules Amendments
  • You will comply with any additional rules set by the organizer of the event for which you have registered, which could be more strict than the ones detailed above.

NOTES

  • These rules are in effect immediately and until further notice.
  • YOU MUST CONFIRM IN THE "NOTES" SECTION DURING SIGN UP THAT YOU MEET ALL THE CONDITIONS LISTED IN THIS DIRECTIVE AND YOU WILL COMPLY WITH ALL THE INTERIM RULES.
    Your event coordinator has been instructed to remove your event registration without further notice if you do not take this step during your registration.
  • Your coordinator may also remove you from the event (even after it has started) if you fail to comply with the rules, and report you back to the TOC Executive.
  • If you cannot or do not wish to follow these temporary rules, please wait to sign up for any TOC events until the interim rules are lifted.

EVENT DETAILS

So, this is my first time leading this longer in / out hike of the Humber Heritage Trail.

Please bring a lunch and at least 1-2 Litres of water.
We will stop for lunch at Edelweiss Park, which is the halfway point of the hike.

EVENT STATS

  • Distance: 23 KM
  • Trail vs Road: 22 vs 1
  • Elevation Range: 60 Meters
  • Challenging Climbs of Note: 7 climbs of at least 25 meters. Several other smaller climbs.
  • Largest Ascent: 50 m
  • Washrooms: There might be some portable washrooms located at the halfway point.
  • Highlights: A few small lookouts as well as views of the Humber River

    PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE WON'T BE A CARPOOL FOR THIS HIKE DUE TO CURRENT TOC COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS

    Approx. Address: 15553 Duffys Ln, Caledon - 43°54'31.0"N 79°48'05.5"W

    Please note that my event directions are from SHEPPARD WEST STATION.

    • Leaving Sheppard West - take the Allen Road south to the 401.
    • Get on the 401 WEST for 9 KM and exit at Highway 409 (exit 355)
    • Take the 409 WEST 4 KM to the 427 NORTH
    • Travel 15 KM North on 427 till the end of the highway at Major Mackenzie
    • Merge onto Major Mackenzie West for 1 KM
    • At Highway 50, continue straight (NORTH) onto Coleraine Drive for 11 KM. (Please note that this road changes to Emil Kolb Pkwy/Peel Regional Rd 150 after King Street)
    • Turn left (NORTH) onto Duffys Ln for 3 KM
    • Look for the HVHTA sign just past the one lane bridge and then look for roadside parking.
    • If you drive to the railway tracks, you've gone too far.

    POTENTIAL WASHROOM STOP

    Instead of driving onto Coleraine Drive @ Highway 50, turn right (NORTH) and follow the highway into Bolton where there are options such as a Tim Hortons, Starbucks or McDonalds.
    Continuing north after your stop, just connect back to the route, by taking the left at Healey Road (WEST) and you'll get to Ccoleraine Drive.
