Itinerary:

Weather update: current forecast for Singhampton on Sunday is a mix of sun and clouds. Highs 12 °.

Carpool is from Sheppard West TTC Subway Station. Passengers, please note that there will be no subway service on Line 1 between Union and St Clair West Stations on Saturday. Shuttle buses will operate. Dupont and Museum stations will be closed, all other stations will remain open for connection to surface routes. If this affects you, please allow a little more time.

The terrain is hilly and challenging. Distance is 20 km, pace is 4-4.5 km/hr. This hike is suitable for intermediate hikers. It is not suitable for beginners.

We will start by taking the Standing Rock & Caves Side Trail, which heads down the Escarpment through rock debris to a standing rock pillar, the result of erosion over eons.

We will then follow the main Bruce trail north to the forested beauty of the Pretty River Valley . Our route will take us to the Escarpment edge and follow along the Osler Bluffs, where there are several scenic lookouts. We'll return on the Russ McConnell Side Trail, and the Pretty River Side Trail to complete a 20 km loop.

There's a food option at the end at Mylar and Loretas.

The event shows a max of 1, so everyone starts off on the wait list, passengers will be added as drivers become available. The number that we actually take is limited only by the availability of drivers. Members willing to drive, members with favourable attendance records, and members that have been on events of similar difficulty may get priority on the wait list.

Spring Tick Warning

This year may see an increase in tick populations in Ontario so take precautions.
  • Wear long pants, light colour is better. Tuck your shirt into your pants, and pull your socks over your pant legs.
  • Use bug spray containing DEET or Icaridin to repel ticks.
  • Avoid tall grass.
  • Check yourself for ticks after the event. If you find an attached tick, remove it with tweezers. As long as the tick is attached to your skin for less than 24 hours, your chance of getting Lyme disease is negligible.
