NOTE: THE CARPOOL LEAVES THE KIPLING STATION SOUTH EXIT @ 9:30 AM

So today's hike is going out to wine country for a fun and short waterfall and winery hike. This is relatively easy hike where we'll pass two waterfalls before heading over to Fatherstone Winery for a wine & stone oven pizza lunch.

    Short Itinerary for the Day
  • Carpool about 1.5 hours
  • Hike will be about 2-2.5 hours along the trails where we will pass 2 waterfalls
  • We'll stop for about 2 hours the winery for lunch where pizza and wine will be served. To see the menu 'click here'. Veggie options are available.
  • It is then an 1 hour walk back to the cars
  • Before a 1.5 drive back to the city

On the trail we'll be following part of the Bruce Trail along with some other trails for an 10 KM route. It will be only 6 km to the winery and will be all roads post lunch.

DRIVERS, WHEN YOU SIGN UP, PLEASE WRITE IN THE NOTES SECTION, THE AMOUNT OF PASSENGERS YOU CAN TAKE IN YOUR CAR!, or else you might be moved to the wait list until this is completed.

Please be aware that there have been ticks noted in the area and I suggest wearing long pants and bug repellent containing deet.

If you cannot walk the entire distance, please do not sign up for this hike.

Also, if you are choosing to meet at the event, please ensure that you are on time

In terms of washrooms, there will be a stop within the first hour into the hike as well as at the winery.

  • Money for lunch - cash is preferable as we will be spiting the bill as the winery does not do separate bills.

  • Approx. Address: 3653-3673 Glen Rd – 43°08'20.4"N 79°22'26.1"W
  • Event Directions: Leaving Kipling - Exit the TTC Parking Lot and turn turn onto Kipling Avenue for 2 KM.
  • Take the Gardner Expressway WEST and follow it WEST. Please note that you have to merge over 2 lanes very quickly to stay on the QEW to continue west.
  • Follow the QEW approximately 85 km and exit at Jordan Road (Regional Road # 26), exit #55.
  • At the stop sign, turn left to get to Jordan Road.
  • Turn right (SOUTH) onto Jordan Road (RR # 26) and follow for 4 KM until the road ends.
  • Turn right (WEST) onto King Street (RR# 81) and follow for 1 KM.
  • Turn left (SOUTH) onto Nineteenth Street (which is just past the Esso Gas Station - you should see a sign for Balls Falls Conservation Area).
  • At the stop sign, take the right road (Glen Road) and follow for 500 meters.
  • Just past the pedestrian crosswalk, there's a parking lot on your right.
  • Potential Washroom Stop: @ The Red Barn, which is located on Jordan Road. There will also be a washroom stop within the first hour of the hike.

    Carpool Cost: Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $47.47 (calculated at total Km * $0.258, effective Thursday, April 25, 2024). This is based on $0.08/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divide by 9. Your event coordinator will confirm exactly how much money is required from each person.

    Notes:
    • I’ve set the maximum event count at 1 as I don’t want to add anyone to the event until I have enough carpool drivers to accommodate passengers up to a max of 16 which is the size of my reservation at the winery.
    • If we are short of drivers, they will get priority on the waiting list.
    • This hike will go ahead rain or shine. If it's raining, please wear appropriate rain gear
    • If you choose to meet at the event, please arrive on time, I will not be waiting for late comers..
