Itinerary:
Wait, What?

It’s OK, you didn’t miss hikes F to V, I’m just skipping ahead to W because the little area known as Wexford Heights is hosting their annual Taste of Lawrence festival. Lawrence will be closed to traffic between Warden and Birchmount to host this huge event. There’s going to be patios, lots of ethnic food vendors, rides, a stage and more! There’s also a really cool spot in the midst of the festival that has numerous dinosaurs, just walk one minute south on Crockford Blvd to see them!

My plan is that we make the most of the W theme, so our hike will meander a little, taking in Warden Woods park, Wexford Park and a couple more streets that begin with W! We arrive just as they are opening for the day, so the crowds should still be manageable. And we can get part of the hike in before it gets hot.

Bring cash if you want to try some of the foods or rides while you’re there.

  • Start: Victoria Park Subway Station (meet inside near the booth). Parking is free on the weekends, entrance to parking lot is off Victoria Park.
  • End: When we arrive at the festival, at Lawrence and Warden. Then you’re free to wander around as you wish. Lots of options to get TTC from there!
  • Pace: we will hike between 4.5 – 5 km/hr. (That is like 3.0 speed on a treadmill)
  • Distance: It’s about 8.5 km to get to the festival (and official end of the TOC event). The festival length is under 1 km. If you want to walk back to Victoria Park to catch a bus back to the subway station, add another 2 km. So you can see you can get a nice step count in!
