Itinerary:

The terrain is variable, with hilly and rocky sections, and some impressive cave formations. Distance is about 16 km, pace is 4-4.5 km/hr.

This hike is suitable for intermediate hikers or fit beginners.

A loop hike starting from the skiers' parking lot on Grey Rd 2, we will descend the Escarpment on the Metcalfe Crevice Side Trail through a rocky gorge 30m high, visit the Crevice Caves at Metcalfe Rock, pass the base of Pinnacle Rock, and return via the Chuck Grant Side Trail and a few of the Kolapore Uplands ski trails.

On the way back, there's an option for stopping in Flesherton for refreshments or a bite to eat.
Members willing to drive and members with favourable attendance records may get priority on the wait list.
PRECAUTIONS AGAINST TICKS

Wear long pants. Tuck your shirt into your pants, and pull your socks over your pant legs. Wear light coloured clothing to spot ticks more easily. Use bug spray containing DEET or Icaridin on your skin and clothing. Avoid tall grass.

Check yourself for ticks immediately after the event, you can ask me for help for removal. When you get home, shower and do a full body check, if you find a tick, remove it with tweezers. If a tick is attached to your skin for less than 24 hours, your chance of getting Lyme disease is negligible.
