Itinerary:

DISTANCE: 29 km (or 25 km if it is hot + humid, we may skip the turkey visit. Last time we did 29 km and saw about 20 turkeys and 1 deer up close!)

PACE: 5.5 km/h (this is a lively pace!)

DIFFICULTY: D4 (because of the distance and pace)

TERRAIN: mainly flat, paved, grass and beach


IF YOU HAVE NOT PREVIOUSLY HIKED WITH ME:

This hike is not for beginners, or for hikers who are not in good physical shape. Everyone will be expected to keep up with the group.
If you have not hiked with me, or if your recent TOC hike history (previous 2 months)does not include hikes that suggest this hike is appropriate for you (20+ km at 5.5 km/h),
THEN YOU MUST SEND ME AN EMAIL describing recent experience you have hiking 20+ km at a quick pace in order to be considered to join this hike.
This is required! No email, no hike.


MAX hikers: about 12 (+ or -)
I set the Maximum Group Size to 4, because I can take 3 passengers, but this event can accommodate about 12 hikers.
Passengers will be added as additional drivers become available.

Members on the waiting list who are willing to drive may get priority.

ABOUT THE HIKE

Let's walk along the Waterfront Trail from Frenchman's Bay to Lynde Shores, along a mainly paved path, but you could walk on the beach or grass along most of the way.

This is the route we will take.

  • Start from the east side of Frenchman's Bay
  • head east along the Waterfront Trail to Lynde Shores
  • find our usual excellent spot for lunch on the beach
  • check out the resident wild turkeys and other wildlife
  • turn around go back to the start
  • ice cream time (optional)

  • Weather appropriate clothing
  • Water 3 - 4 L (as much as you need)
