Itinerary:

Please note that the film time has changed to 10:10 PM, so the event will end later than anticipated, plan for an end time of 12:30. Since we'll have a gap between when the hike ends and the movie starts, it is suggested that we go for dinner at Kathmandu restaurant on Yonge before the movie.

This is a fast hike, we have to get to the cinema before the movie starts!. We will hike at 6 km/h for approximately 10 km, winter trail conditions permitting (for safety reasons we'll slow it down if conditions are bad, but the trail we'll be following has so far been largely free of ice.) Not suitable for beginners.

We will be hiking from King/Yonge Station to the Varsity Cinema along the following route.

  1. Depart from SE Corner of King and Yonge
  2. King St E to bridge, take steps down to ravines, then north
  3. Around the Brickworks
  4. Exit the ravine at Craigleigh Gardens
  5. Walk until Castle Frank Subway Station
  6. Right on Rosedale Valley
  7. Aymer Ave E to Yonge St
  8. Left on Yonge to Bloor
  9. Right on Bloor to Bay
  10. Finish at Varsity Cinema in Manulife Centre

After the hike, we'll go see the film A Separation.

Remember to bring a light, head light preferred.

Note: If you come on a winter hike, you should always have a pair of icers in your pack. You won't have to use them very often, but when it is icy on the trail, you'll need them. The icer is held to your boot with a set of Velcro straps, and keeps you from slipping and sliding. You can purchase good quality icers at MEC or Lee Valley Tools.
