Directive From The TOC Executive

Interim COVID- 19 Rules for the Toronto Outdoor Club

  • You must meet the following four conditions to participate in any TOC events.
    Within the 14 days preceding the event:
    1. You have not travelled outside of Ontario;
    2. You don’t have any COVID-19, cold, or flu symptoms;
    3. You have not knowingly been in contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case;
    4. You have taken and passed the Ontario COVID-19 self- assessment on- line questionnaire.
  • You will bring a cloth mask/face covering, which you will wear during the event meet- up, plus any time during the event when the 2m social distancing is not possible.
  • You will comply with any other rules as detailed on the TOC Rules Amendments
  • You will comply with any additional rules set by the organizer of the event for which you have registered, which could be more strict than the ones detailed above.

NOTES

  • These rules are in effect immediately and until further notice.
  • YOU MUST CONFIRM IN THE "NOTES" SECTION DURING SIGN UP THAT YOU MEET ALL THE CONDITIONS LISTED IN THIS DIRECTIVE AND YOU WILL COMPLY WITH ALL THE INTERIM RULES.
    Your event coordinator has been instructed to remove your event registration without further notice if you do not take this step during your registration.
  • Your coordinator may also remove you from the event (even after it has started) if you fail to comply with the rules, and report you back to the TOC Executive.
  • If you cannot or do not wish to follow these temporary rules, please wait to sign up for any TOC events until the interim rules are lifted.

EVENT DETAILS

So, this is my first time leading this route with the TOC.

This hike will be an in/out hike with a short loop for about 22 KM.

Please bring a lunch and at least 1-2 Litres of water. We will find a place to stop for lunch in Balls Falls Conservation Area.

If you cannot walk the entire distance, please do not sign up for this hike.

    EVENT STATS
  • Distance: 22 KM
  • Terrain: Mainly single track dirt trails, with a few rocky sections - typically, its very muddy this time of the year
  • Trail vs Road: 21 vs 1
  • Elevation Range: 60 Meters
  • Challenging Climbs of Note: 4 climbs of at least 25 meters and one of 50 meters, right near the end.
  • Washrooms: Should be one following the lunch break
  • Highlights: A few views of lake Ontario & 2 waterfalls

PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE WON'T BE A CARPOOL FOR THIS HIKE DUE TO CURRENT TOC COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS

  • How to Get There:
    Event Directions:

    We'll meet at the Bruce Trail road side parking close to 3778 Quarry Rd, Lincoln - 43°08'34.0"N 79°27'31.6"W.

    Please note that my event directions are from Kipling Station.
    To change the map to options that better suit you, please click "MORE OPTIONS" link the 'DRIVING DIRECTIONS' map (below) and then you can add your own address into the search.

    • Leave Kipling Station and head east to Kipling Avenue.
    • Turn right onto Kipling and follow south 3 KM to the Gardner Expressway.
    • Take the Gardner Expressway WEST. Please note that you have to merge over 2 lanes very quickly to stay on the QEW to continue west.
    • Take the QEW for 72 KM and
    • Take exit # 64 for Ontario Street County Rd 18
    • Turn right (SOUTH) and follow Ontario Street for 2.5 KM
    • Turn left (EAST) onto King St/Niagara Regional Rd 81 for 2 KM
    • Turn right (SOUTH) onto Quarry Rd and follow for 2 KM
    • Sideroad parking will be on the right hand side, just past 3778 Quarry Rd.

    POTENTIAL WASHROOM STOP
    There's a McDonalds on Ontario Street, just south of the QEW on the right hand side.
