Itinerary: | |||||||
This is a weekday daytime hike! DISTANCE: 6.5 km (not 12 km) PACE: 1.5 km/h (not 5 km/h)(35 cm deep snow, tough going!) DIFFICULTY: D3.9 (not D3) ICERS: we may need icers for this hike. Be prepared. You should keep icers in your pack during the winter months. Due to the excellent snowfall we had yesterday, the original 12 km hike route would have probably taken us 5 hours! Everyone agreed to alter the route. We went through Don Valley golf course, and explored part of a rugged gully with lots of downed trees blocking our way. We had to trudge through knee deep snow, and climb over all the downed trees and branches. Even on the flat fairways of the golf course, the deep snow slowed us down. The going was very slow, but everyone had a great time, got a great workout, and will probably be stiff and sore for a little while. This is the route we will take. NOPE. SEE ABOVE
