Overview

End the summer with a weekend away to see the beautiful fall colours in Muskoka! Join us for a fun, fantastic weekend of hiking, photography, and relaxation at Bondi Village Resort, near Algonquin Park, just south of Dwight.

Get up early and take some pictures before breakfast; take a headlight and hike after supper... Bondi Village has over 20 km of trails on a private wilderness reserve. Trails vary in difficulty; each offers its own special micro-environment and natural features. If we're lucky, we may see small family groups of deer right among the cottages, and on occasion, the local wolf pack may also come onto the property, although we're more likely to hear them than to actually see them. Swim in the lake, or take out a canoe and explore the shoreline.

Accommodation

We've booked The Lodge, a self-contained house featuring 6 bedrooms, multiple bathrooms, a fireplace, games room and library. Dinner on Saturday, and breakfasts on both Saturday and Sunday will be prepared and shared as a group, so we'll sort out a menu ahead of time and make sure anyone with dietary restrictions is taken into account.

Weekend itinerary

  • We will drive up to Bondi Village on Friday evening, with each carload stopping for dinner on the way (by consensus please...)
  • On Saturday, we have a choice of destinations, based on activity and willingness of a driver to go to any particular location:
    • Walk the trails at the Village
    • Drive to Algonquin Park - hiking is free but a car-pass for the car must be purchased
    • Play a round of golf at nearby Deerhurst or Grandview
    • Paddle on the lake
  • On Sunday, again, small groups can choose to stay at Bondi, go back to Algonquin, or go hiking and swimming at Arrowhead Provincial Park, just north of Huntsville.
  • Each car-load will head back to Toronto late afternoon, getting back to Vaughan around 8pm or so, depending on where they spent the day and how long the driver wants to stay out.

Carpool Cost: Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $118.68 (calculated at total Km * $0.258, effective Tuesday, April 16, 2024). This is based on $0.08/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divide by 9. Your event coordinator will confirm exactly how much money is required from each person.

Notes:

Menus and carpool arrangements will be worked out closer to the event date.


- Registration is NOT COMPLETE until you've signed up and paid by the registration cut off date. The money must be in the TOC's possession by that date. No exceptions.
- When a minimum group size appears, this is to let you know that the event will be cancelled with full refunds to those who have already paid, if the minimum number of registered participants is not met. For any events where TOC needs a minimum number of participants, there will be absolutely no refund of money if you cancel.
- We encourage all members to follow our Etiquette Guidelines at all times while participating in TOC events.
