Itinerary:
This is a 2 day 1 night trip. This part 3.5 of a series of trips to explore the QEII Wildlands. I was there for the long weekend and I took a trip up river to Crooked Lake and realized I'd like to take other people to see it as well!! This is a more relaxed trip with minimal portaging(100m) So we can pack more luxury items to enjoy the stay. This rewarding paddle will take us along a tranquil river but will include a stretch over a large lake so you must be comfortable with this as the conditions can vary. Once we find our campsite on Fishog Lake we will set up then get back into the canoes and paddle as far as Crooked Lake before turning around and returning. That should take us about 3 hours at a leisurely pace. There are (rare)opportunities to spot wildlife such as moose, deer, bear, coyotes and wolves. We will leave the park on Sunday and be back at the cars by 4 pm. From there we can drive to Coboconk, have a meal at the local eatery and sort out shared costs then head back to Toronto hopefully by 8. There will be a pretrip planning sheet to make sure everyone has proper gear sort out carpool etc. Canoeist with less experience are invited to sign up. YOU MUST INDICATE YOUR EXPERIENCE LEVEL. I have done this trip before and you can look it up on the TOC website. If you have any questions contact me ASAP. Phone calls and text are quickest.
