Note: Drivers will get preference on the waiting list. I'll increase the maximum number of participants as we get more drivers.

Doors Open is an annual series of events, when many sites in Ontario communities open their doors to the general public.

We'll meet at the Downsview station at 9:00 am, and drive to the Eramosa River Park at Guelph. You can also meet us at the Park, at 10:00 am. The parking is located near Florence Ln at Lawrence Ave.

Part 1

We'll walk to the Guelph market square, visiting the following sites along the way:

  • Toronto Suburban Railway trailbed
  • The Covered Bridge
  • St. George's Anglican Church and the Canadian Pacific Railway Caboose 436994 (99 Woolwich St)
  • The New Petrie Building and Brothers Brewing Company (15 Wyndham St N)

We'll take a lunch break around the Guelph Market Square area.

Part 2

After lunch, we will return to the Eramosa River Park, via:


Required Items to Bring:
  • Water

Carpool passengers:

  • Cash for carpool (around $9 to $10, depending on the number of passengers per car)
  • Post-hike footwear / bag for soiled footwear (to help keep the cars clean)
Recommended Items to Bring:

Carpool Cost: Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $45.15 (calculated at total Km * $0.258, effective Thursday, March 28, 2024). This is based on $0.08/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divide by 9. Your event coordinator will confirm exactly how much money is required from each person.

Notes:
  • The hike will go in case of light rain (possibly with changed route). It'll be canceled in case of a severe thunderstorm.
  • Dog owners bring their own cars (or find drivers who are willing to let dogs inside their vehicles). The Doors Open sites may not allow dogs inside.
