Itinerary:
This is a 2 day 1 night trip. This part 2 of a series of trips to explore the QEII Wildlands. This is a more invloved trip that involves almost 4km of portaging in total. We will be penetrating further into the park. Techniques will be focusing on packing light and one shot portages. On Saturday morning we will drive up and put in at Devils Lake Access. From the put in we will canoe and portage through several lakes and ponds(Devils, Sheldon, Coon Peter's Pond and Victoria) eventually ending up on Victoria Lake to set up camp.(which takes about four and a half hours after taking a wrong turn or two). There are about 4 kms of portaging so packing properly is essential. There are (rare)opportunities to spot wildlife such as moose, deer, bear, coyotes and wolves Once at camp there are options to hit hiking trails, canoeing down other routes or vegging in the camp if you like. This is an opportunity to canoe into places that are rarely frequented by other people. We will leave the park on Sunday and be back at the cars by 4 pm. From there we can drive to Coboconk, have a meal at the local eatery and sort out shared costs then head back to Toronto hopefully by 8. There will be a pretrip planning sheet to make sure everyone has proper gear. Canoeist with a bit of experience are invited to sign up YOU MUST INDICATE YOUR EXPERIENCE LEVEL. I have done this trip before and you can look it up on the TOC website. If you have any questions contact me ASAP.
