TOC Alphabet hike – A is for Allen Gardens This is one of a series of (knock on wood) 26 TOC Alphabet hikes that will bring us to a large assortment of areas of Toronto. Some areas will be a hike on their own, and some will be a destination. Most will be 10-15 km, but I’m sure some will end up shorter or longer. One thing for sure, they’ll all be urban hikes with no car pool, and start/end probably not the same, but as close as possible to public transportation. Feel free to join one or two, or try for all 26! This is really ambitious for me, but I’m going to aim for all letters to be hiked during 2017. So I’d best get going! A is for Allen Gardens. I’ve never been! But it’s over 100 years old and it’s free. And seems like a nice destination for a cold first full weekend in January. Here’s the Wikipedia entry. We are going to hike ~ 12 km to get there, and it will be our end destination, which is only 2.5 blocks to the subway at Yonge/College. Stuff you should know:
