Itinerary:
We had such a great time at Warsaw Caves in August that I have to organize one last trip before the summer ends! Hurrah!!!! Since the following day is a holiday, we'll enjoy a good long day in the outdoors. Be prepared!

The Warsaw Caves has several cool activities to enjoy: the caves (duh!), hiking, canoeing, and even a riverside beach! Once we arrive, you will be free to pick and choose your activities, and you can choose to do them all or just relax with a book in the shade. But you must be back at the designated meeting place at the specified time!

For the caves - they are pretty small and require crawling into them, and some parts are tight. You will need full-length sleeves and pants and a flashlight or headlamp (the latter can be rented from the park).

The canoes are $11/hour for a minimum of 2 hours (which means at least $22), and this includes life vests, which are mandatory to wear.

The hikes are relatively easy and not too long, but there are a few of them.

The beach isn't very big, but it's a very unique experience to swim in that river - it's shallow, slow, clear, and warm! (Well, it was warm in August ... hopefully it will be still!)

We'll have a picnic dinner by the beach before we leave (bring/share a cooler if needed or your food will spoil!), and then we'll stop for ice cream in Peterborough on our way back to Toronto!

****************************************

"These caves are quite wonderful and at a novice level while remaining physically challenging. Despite the fact that they are relatively good to start on, you should go prepared. In the deepest of the caves (the best part) the temperature never goes above zero degrees; the other caves hover around 15 degrees. The best way to deal with the warmth outside and the cold inside is to wear layers. It is also wet inside, so waterproof outer layers are recommended. You can get by with a flashlight, but I would strongly recommend a headlamp. Cheap headlamps are available at Canadian Tire for around $10 Canadian and good- quality headlamps can be bought at most outfitters (don't forget extra batteries and some sort of backup lamp). The precipitation in the caves constantly drips, so if you don't have something on your head - like a headscarf - it'll give you the willies right through to your toes." - http://www.out- there.com/cavewrsa.htm
