This event commences with carpooling from Kipling Subway to Outfitter location in Scotland, Ontario (it will then move to Big Creek and surrounding area) and terminates with carpooling back from Scotland to Kipling Subway. More about this event: Big Creek: near the town of Port Rowan, Norfolk County, Southern Ontario. Explore the wild close to home. Big Creek is Canada’s southernmost wilderness style paddling route & closer than you think. A very intimate paddle - this narrow winding river flows through the remote little known area in southern Ontario including Big Creek National Wildlife and Long Point World Biosphere. Paddling Big Creek feels like the Amazon with the thick Carolinian Forest resembling a Rain Forest, and deep, slow moving water flowing under the canopy of trees. Our day of paddling concludes with a visit to New Limburg Brewing Company; transforming an old school into a microbrewery looking to bring the best Belgian style ales to Norfolk County.

Our day schedule might be:

  • 7:30am carpool from Kipling Subway, to Scotland, Ontario - 1hr, 15mins (115kms)
  • shuttle service from outfitter location in Scotland, Ontario to Big Creek - 45mins (59.5kms)
  • brief canoe/kayak/gear/route review - 0.5hr
  • guided outing and lunch - 4-5hrs
  • pub/winery visit - 1.5 hours visit (35mins drive)
  • shuttle service back to outfitter location in Scotland, Ontario - 0.5hr (21.2kms)
  • carpool back to Kipling Subway, Toronto - 1hr, 15mins (115kms)
  • Approx. 10 hours full day outing; return time in Toronto should be around 6:30pm

Please contact event organizer if you wish to use your own boat/gear and/or paddleboard. There will still be a transportation/shuttle cost.

This event is co-hosted and will be guided by Grand Experiences - one of the leading canoe & kayak training centers in Southern Ontario. They work with schools, scouts & guides, corporate groups & individuals to provide canoe, river kayak & sea kayak training. They are fully insured on the road and the water. All guide staff is certified in first aid/CPR and The Ontario Recreational Canoeing & Kayaking Association (ORCKA) certifies our wilderness guides and instructors.
