Doors Open is an annual series of events, when many sites in Ontario communities open their doors to the general public. We'll cover three such sites in Whitchurch- Stouffville, while hiking in and around the Eldred King Woodlands.

At 8:30 am, we will meet at the Don Mills Passenger Pick-up and Drop-off area. It is located near Sheppard Avenue Entrance, North side. TTC passengers can access it from inside the station (here is a map).

We will then drive to the Eldred King Woodlands. You can also meet us there, at 9:15 am.

We'll then hike to the following Doors Open sites, while traversing the Eldred King Woodlands:

Site Address Description
Holy Theotokos Convent - Joyous Light Candles 4369 Faulkner Avenue, RR 3 Whitchurch-Stouffville, Ontario Explore the Greek Orthodox convent's building and campus, which includes forests, small rolling hills and two natural ponds. Tour their candle-making factory, and participate in hands-on candle making.
Richmond Hill Live Steamers 15922 McCowan Road, Whitchurch- Stouffville, Ontario Explore this private collection of miniature trains and replicas of engines dating back to 1820s. Take a ride on the miniature train (yep, adults too!).
Bill Fisch Forest Stewardship and Education Centre 16389 Highway 48, Whitchurch- Stouffville, Ontario Explore the York Region Forestry's hub for educational programming. This sustainable building creates more energy than its uses, and was created using local and recycled materials.
