Frontenac Provincial Park is situated on a southern arm of the Canadian Shield north of Kingston. This is a semi-wilderness park, which features granite outcrops, vast wetlands and mixed forests. Spring is a great time to see flowers and wildlife before the forest gets totally covered in leaves.

This trip is a good introduction to multi- day backpacking and is ideal for hikers with some camping experience and who want to get into backcountry camping. Please note that a this trip will require hiking long distances on a hilly and uneven terrain, carrying close to 20 kg (give or take) of gear on your back. The pace will be steady-not too slow or fast and we will hike around 10 to 15 km per day. You must be ready for that if you sign up. You must also be ready for cold weather camping, as weather conditions can changes very fast.

We will leave Toronto on Thursday morning, head to the park office to get our permits, and then we will hike to our first campsite. Friday morning would be a relaxed one, and we will break camp late morning and hike to our next campsite , where we will spend Friday night. Saturday morning would also be easy: we'll break camp late morning, hike out to the parking lot, and then drive back. We'll be back in Toronto late Saturday evening, so please do not make plans that requires you to be back early.

If you have not been on any camping or (trail) hiking events with the TOC rated at least as D4, but have equivalent experience, please provide details on the Notes section while signing up, so that your registration can be given further consideration.

Car pooling arrangements, trip expectation and route, food planning and equipment will be discussed by email. Please make sure to respond promptly to any messages sent regarding this trip.
