A Hike to Eldred King Woodlands ~15KM (8/2/2015)

PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED: Once you've reviewed the event details, and decided you'd like to join us, you MUST sign up at the bottom of this page.

You are STRONGLY encouraged to read this page in its entirety before signing up. If you'd like to attend, we ask that you abide by our rules and procedures as a time/cost saving process (with an end result of keeping membership free and lower cost events).

Itinerary:

NOTE 1: THE CARPOOL DEPARTS FROM DON MILLS SUBWAY STATION at 10:00 AM SHARP. NOTE 2: Regular subway service begins at 9:00AM on Sundays. Please utilize the Blue Night Bus Network if you will not be able to arrive before 9:50AM on the subway. (link to map here)

The intermediate trail is a part of the Oak Ridge Moraine with a terrain of rolling hills and sandy/clay trails.

We'll probably do a pace of somewhere between 4.0-5.0 km/h depending on trail conditions.

The length of this hike is approx. 15 KM, so if you sign up, you are expected to complete the entire trail. NOTE: There are no washrooms in this park.

Pack a lunch as we will eat take a break on trail for lunch.

The master plan today is go for a hike and get back in time to catch the movie A Man from Reno at the Royal Theatre on College Street (This is optional and a separate event).

Individuals willing to drive will get first priority on the wait list, if needed.

Also, if you sign up and say that you're 'Meeting At the Event,' it is expected that you are driving yourself to the trailhead and not coming to the carpool.

DRIVERS, WHEN YOU SIGN UP, PLEASE WRITE IN THE NOTES SECTION, THE AMOUNT OF PASSENGERS YOU CAN TAKE IN YOUR CAR, or else you may be moved to the wait list until this is completed!!!

Good hiking boots or hiking shoes

Lunch and Snacks

Water (at least 2L)

Weather Appropriate Clothing

DRIVING INSTRUCTIONS FROM CARPOOL

Exit TTC lot and drive east on Sheppard.

Head north on the 404

Get off the 404 at Aurora Rd (Regional RD 15) (EXIT 45)

Go East on Aurora Rd to McCowan Rd. NOTE: It is a flashing yellow light, not a traffic light at McCowan Rd

Travel North on McCowan Rd, until road turns at Faulkner.

Find a place to park as the trail starts on the right
