Itinerary:
Let us spend the May long weekend backpacking in beautiful Killarney with its silvery ridges and amazing blue lakes.

We will depart Friday night for Killarney Provincial Park, southwest of Sudbury near the shores of Georgian Bay. We should arrive late in the evening, and will set up camp in the main campground at George Lake.

Saturday morning we will head out to the La Cloche Silhouette trail, and backpack to our campsite on Bunny Rabbit Lake Lake. Along the way we will pass lakes, marsh, beaver dams and climb up into the La Cloche Mountains and up The Crack, a famous....you guessed it, crack.....filled with boulders that the trail climbs straight up. The view from the ridges on the top is amazing.

On Sunday we will hike to our campsite on Silver Lake and climb Silver Peak, the highest point in Killarney. The views from the top are spectacular and many consider this one of the best hikes in Ontario.. Monday we will do a short hike to the Bell Lake Access Point via Log Boom Lake where one of our cars will be parked.

New backpackers are welcome but you must have strong hiking experience to come for this trip. If you have experience outside the TOC, please mention in in the notes when you sign up. Everyone will be put on the waiting list first and I will add you based on your experience.

There will be a mandatory pre-meeting on Tuesday, May 5 at 7pm in the Yonge-Sheppard area to discuss route, trip expectations and gear. Preference may be given to drivers if we are short in the order of sign-up.
