If you're driving to the event directly, please arrive no latter than 11:15am at the starting point.

IMPORTANT INFO:

  • This is a photo hike. You MUST have a camera to participate in the hike (cellphone cameras are welcome). Please mention which camera you'll be bringing in the Notes when you sign up. Preference will be given to those with SLRs and point-and-shoot cameras on the waiting list.
  • We will be going at a SLOW pace (3km/h or less), and stopping frequently for pictures. This is NOT the hike if you're looking for a workout
  • I have not been on most trails in the area before, so we may occasionally get lost and have to backtrack (which can be fun, though I'll try my best to minimize it).
  • The trails may be quite muddy this time of the year, so I'd recommend wearing good hiking boots.

Dundas Valley is located in the Niagara Escarpment near Hamilton, and is home to many waterfalls (Sherman, Tiffany, Canterbury, Hermitage, Mill Falls).
The water levels and flow rate tend to be higher than usual this time of the year, and can make for some great pictures!

The area is also home to many other interesting landmarks like The Hermitage (ruins of an old stone mansion), Sulphur Springs, The Old Oak (a 150 year old oak tree), and the Trail Centre (a reconstruction of a Victorian Train Station).
We'll be stopping for lunch at the Trail Centre, which also houses a small gallery.

Drivers will get preference on the waiting list. People will be added to the event list as drivers become available.
If you'd like to drive to Finch station and not be a carpool driver, that's ok too; Finch has free parking on weekends.

DRIVERS, when you sign up, please state how many passengers you're willing to take. Otherwise you may be moved to the waiting list while this is sorted out.
