Waterfront Trail #3 - FB to Lynde Shores 32 km (11/1/2014)

You are STRONGLY encouraged to read this page in its entirety before signing up. If you'd like to attend, we ask that you abide by our rules and procedures as a time/cost saving process (with an end result of keeping membership free and lower cost events).

DISTANCE 32 km (YES 32)

PACE about 5.3 - 5.5 km/h

DIFFICULTY D5 (because of the distance and pace)

This event is restricted to experienced hikers who have D4 experience on hikes of at least 20 km. 32 km is a considerable distance!!
Everyone starts on the waiting list, and may be added to the event after confirmation of experience level.

THIRD in a series of hikes that incorporate the Waterfront Trail, along a mainly paved path, but you could walk on the beach or grass along most of the way.
I have not hiked here before, so let`s explore.

Members willing to drive, will get first priority on the waiting list. Passengers will be added as drivers become available.
Alternatively, you can also meet us at the hike starting location.

DON'`T get left behind! Please arrive early, we will start promptly, and I will turn off my cell once we begin hiking.

This is the route we will take.

  • Start from the east side of Frenchmans Bay
  • head east along the Waterfront Trail
  • detour 7km on the Trans Canada Trail beside Duffins Creek
  • continue along the Waterfront Trail
  • find a good spot for lunch
  • keep continuing along the Waterfront Trail to Lynde Shores
  • turn around go back to the start

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

If carpooling: meet at 8:25 AM
Kennedy Subway Station is located on the Bloor Subway line at the far east end.
We'll meet at the Passenger Drop-Off Entrance
If driving to the carpool, Kennedy Station is located just east of Kennedy, south of Eglinton. Parking is free on weekends.

If meeting at event: meet at 9:00 AM
There is a free municipal parking lot at the south end of Liverpool Rd. Pickering, with about 80 spots. See picture of parking lot below.
