Itinerary:
What is spelunking you ask? It is the act of exploring a cave :-) Get ready for this full day adventure. We will depart Kennedy Station at 8:15am SHARP and once on site, we will go to the caves. There are 7 caves to be explored. They are considered novice therefore no experience is necessary, although you should be prepared to crawl and squeeze your way through, and also be very careful as they can be very slippery. Some of the caves have an entrance and an exit while others will require backtracking. You should wear layered clothing that you don't mind getting dirty, and you should consider an outer waterproof layer as it can be damp (and cool) inside the caves. Helmets and ropes are not necessary.

After the cave exploration, we will break for a picnic lunch. After lunch, one group can choose to explore the 13km of hiking trails available within the Conservation Area, and another group may choose to rent canoes and explore the Indian River. Canoe rentals are $10/hour with a 2 hour minimum (expect to pay the full day price of $40/canoe). Should you choose this option, this fee will be shared with your canoe partner(s), and you MUST wear the provided PFD. Whichever choice you make, you will have approximately 3-4 hours to explore (a firm meet up time will be provided at the event) after which time we will head back to the city with a planned arrival at the carpool by 6pm at the latest. I will poll participants closer to the departure date to do my best to match up hikers with canoeists. Please note that if we do not get at least 2 canoes on the water with one experienced canoeist in each canoe and an agreement that canoes will stay together, then everyone must hike. This is for safety reasons. The Conservation Area has 2-person and 3-person canoes so odd numbers can be accommodated.

Due to the distance to the event, drivers are critical to this event. As a result, passengers may get moved to the waiting list until a sufficient number of drivers register. As drivers are added, I will add passengers back on the list in the order they initially registered. .
