Itinerary:
"Deep within a forest northeast of Peterborough is the largest known concentration of aboriginal rock carvings in Canada. Carved into the white marble rock face hundreds of years ago, the 900 petroglyphs depict turtles, snakes, birds, humans and other images. Hiking trails meander through surrounding forests, wetlands and rocky ridges."

"The petroglyphs are called Kinoomaagewaabkong in Ojibway. It translates to "The Rocks that Teach". The Teaching Rocks are an active spiritual site for the Anishnaabe people. Visitors are asked to respect the spirituality of the site. Taking photos or capturing images of petroglyphs site are not allowed."

After about a 2 hour drive, arriving at the Petroglyphs Provincial Park we will view the petroglyphs, have lunch (that we brought along) and then spend about 4 hours hiking various trails in the park. Note that the HIKING PACE will be SLOW with the emphasis on enjoying the nature and the surroundings. We will hike as a group at the pace of slowest hiker in the group. Fast hikers: this IS NOT an event for you!!

If time and weather permits, on the way home we will stop at about a half way point, at Mark S. Burnham Provincial Park to stretch our legs with a short 1.5 km hike. We then proceed to Food Forest Cafe in Peterborough, where the "menu is 100% plant based; containing no meat, dairy, egg or gluten. We serve fresh organic juices and smoothies at our juice- bar, gourmet salads, soup, delicious desserts, cooked and raw entrees, and whatever else comes into creation in our kitchen."

Those who are willing to drive will be moved preferentially off the waiting list. More participants will be added if there are enough drivers.

Those who are willing to drive, please ensure you answer the question about the number of passengers that you can take.
