Itinerary:

Let's do something different and take a ride on a steam train! We will depart Downsview at 8:30 am sharp. Note that the subway will not be running at this 'early' hour. Thus, figure out how you will get to Downsview on time. We will then drive to Tottenham where we will purchase tickets ($13/adult) for the 50 minute steam train ride. We need to be there when the station opens so that we can get seats together as much as possible. I will confirm the train departure times in May and we may need to a) adjust our departure time or b) catch the train on the way back after our hike. I will update the event description and notify the attendees of any changes.

After the train ride we will drive less than 30 min north to Earl Rowe Provincial Park Where we will LEISURELY hike the Rainbow Run and Lookout Trails (about 15 km in total). Note there will be entry fee of $20/car- cost of this will be shared. At the end of the hike we will head home, finding a place somewhere on route for refreshments/dinner.

Bring lunch which we will eat somewhere at Earl Rowe. No food or drinks are allowed/served on the train. See their website for more details.

This is an all day event. No drop outs. Also note that we will hike as a group - at a leisurely pace with frequent stops to take photos and to enjoy the scenery/surroundings. If you think you'll have uncontrollable urges to sprint ahead or to continuously be on the move, this is NOT an event for you .

Average hiking pace will be approx. 4 to 5 km/h. The terrain appears to be fairly easy with a couple of steep hills to lookouts. The stated distance is approximate. Please ensure you can hike the distance at the specified pace BEFORE you sign up.

The train will run rain or shine (fully enclosed carriages) and we will be hiking rain or shine. Dress for the weather.

Those who are willing to drive will be moved preferentially off the waiting list. More participants will be added if there are enough drivers.
