A WEEKEND IN BIRDLAND
Please only sign up if you are 100% sure you can attend. We will be spending the weekend doing day paddles in Long Point World Biosphere reserve and Big Creek National Wildlife area, photographing migratory birds as they begin their long trek south for the winter. Long Point is a 40 km spit extending into Lake Erie that is on a major fly route for hundreds of thousands of migratory birds, including water fowl, song birds and raptors as well as Monarch butterflies. ITINERARY
There will be no pre-trip meeting; carpool, food, paddling partners and other details will be worked out by phone and email. FOR EXPERIENCED PADDLERS ONLY: You must be self sufficient at kayaking or canoeing as no instruction will be given. We may be paddling through bogs and or marshes and or (sheltered) open water on Lake Erie. Please email me with answers to the following questions when signing up: RENTALS: You will be responsible for your own canoe/kayak rental from The Complete Paddler. WEATHER: This event will go ahead rain or shine. Anyone cancelling because of rain will get an automatic no show. There are many hiking trails in the area and in the wetlands, we will not be going near water if there is a risk of thunderstorms. | |||||||
